Bandai Namco Experience has launched a new “immersive space entertainment” project which intersects music, visuals, art and their iconic characters in 2025. On February 1st, the first event, “PAC-MAN MIKOSHI FEST”, was held at ‘namco TOKYO’ in Tokyo Kabukicho Tower in Shinjuku.
“PAC-MAN” gained meteoric popularity not only in Japan, but across the globe ever since its birth on May 22, 1980. “PAC-MAN” is a simple, yet very addictive and exciting game that “PAC-MAN” explores a maze eating as many dots as it appears while avoiding four types of ghosts – red, blue and others. In 2005, the game was awarded a Guinness World Record as the most successful coin-operated arcade game.

“PAC-MAN MIKOSHI FEST” held on February 1st offered a new way to experience “PAC-MAN“. With “PAC-MAN MIKOSHI (MIKOSHI – portable shrine)“ stationed smack in the middle of the venue welcoming and greeting visitors, live performances mixing 1980s city pop and the “PAC-MAN“ sounds, exclusive to this event, together with a VDJ incorporating the Japanese MIKOSHI culture livened up the atmosphere and excitement of the event.
And, right next to it is the “PAC-MAN IP Metal Canvas Art“, a metal canvas art piece created by Bandai Namco in collaboration with an art brand “GAAAT“ on display.

“Metal Canvas Art“ is 2.5-dimensional artworks which are created by transferring digital art onto metal surfaces. The art production team consisting of art directors, designers and engineers has created original artistic interpretations based on the digital data of “PAC-MAN“. A data processing technique which transforms digital data into 2.5-dimensional reliefs combined with an artistic expression of translating delicate creative visions into physical art defines the unique characteristics of such works. New impactful creations have emerged that make full use of textured surfaces, such as “Frame Out“, which captures and highlights the vibrant energy and a curiosity for the future embodied by PAC-MAN, “Graffitish“, which is infused with the dynamic strokes of spray art, and “Refrain,” imagining PAC-MAN navigating life in the heart of the urban chaos.

Each piece on display was an exclusive creation to this event, and was only available in limited quantities. Bandai Namco Experience plans to continue hosting groundbreaking events that bring art and characters together like never before. Stay tuned!
